Vase With An Apple

Sunday, February 3, 2019

This is a small ceramic bottle vase that I have for my still life painting. I had not use it before but this time I have it next to an apple. I really like how the shape of the vase came about with good proportions.

Above you see the drawing of the set up. This is a simple set up of a still life that you can do. Is great for practice and as you progress you can add more subject and make it a little more challenging.

This is the drawing side by side the still life. If you notice there is a cord hanging in front of the set up (from my point of view is almost at the center of the vase). What you do is to draw the vertical line on your surface and start to take measurements using the cord as reference. This will help you to get the right proportions. I used a proportional divider but you also can use a pencil to take the measurements.

Bottle With Stand Oil

Tuesday, January 29, 2019

This is a painting I did of the bottle I have containing my stand oil. I saw this bottle time after time without noticing the golden color of the oil. Then decided to put it in the shadow box and after that I said to my self "I have to make a painting of it".
I used a prepare 9x12 hardboard panel and I'm happy with the outcome of the painting. Hope you like it as well!

Pear Oil Painting

Sunday, November 18, 2018

This is a painting of a pear I did yesterday afternoon in one sitting. I decided to use canvas paper. The brand that I used for this oil painting is from Canson . The size is 9 x 12 and it comes on a pad of 24 sheets ready for painting. You can add another layer of gesso if you want. I felt that the paper absorbs the paint really quick and feels dry when you keep adding brush strokes to the painting. But at the end I like the way the paint turn out. If you want after the paint is completely dry, you can glue it to a hardboard using and archival glue, which I intend to do with this piece.
